Custom Rubber Corp. molds rubber parts in a variety of colors. Sometimes this is done for simple aesthetic reasons, other times the color is critical to the use of the part. Colored rubber compounds can be used to differentiate durometer, distinguish similar components from each other, highlight safety features, and ensure non-marking contact.
Different colored handles can be an effective way to quickly identify different socket sizes of medical screwdrivers during surgery. It's difficult to tell the difference between a 1.5mm socket size and 2.5mm socket size just by looking at them. If a doctor says “Hand me the screwdriver with an orange handle”, that's easier to identify.
Additionally, with the right design, rubber handle grips are a great way to limit torque and prevent a screwdriver from being tightened too much during medical procedures.
