RESPONSIVENESS ~ FROM DESIGN TO DELIVERY™

  • A Partnership That Helped Custom Rubber Corp. Keep Up with Rapid Growth

In manufacturing, growth is about more than increasing capacity—it depends on having the right people, processes and partners in place to support it. At Custom Rubber Corp., we produce custom molded rubber parts for a wide range of industries, where consistency, responsiveness and reliability are critical. Over time, strong partnerships have played an important role in helping us scale and adapt to changing demands. One of those long-standing relationships is with Cleveland Public Power, which has supported our facility’s evolving power needs for more than 30 years.

The Reality of Growth in Manufacturing

Scaling production in manufacturing is rarely as simple as “just producing more.” It often requires a coordinated set of changes across the entire operation. As demand increases, companies may need to invest in new equipment, adjust or expand facility layouts and ensure their infrastructure can support higher levels of output.

One of the most critical—and sometimes overlooked—factors in this process is power capacity. Increased production typically means more machinery running simultaneously, which places greater demand on electrical systems and overall facility support.

Ultimately, sustainable growth in manufacturing is not solely an internal effort. It relies on external systems and partners that make expansion possible and reliable.

    Years of Trusted Collaboration

Our relationship with Cleveland Public Power spans more than 30 years, and over that time it has remained a consistent part of how our facility operates and grows. What has made this partnership valuable is not just longevity, but reliability—knowing there is a team that understands our facility’s needs and can support us as those needs evolve.

As our operations at Custom Rubber Corp. have changed over time, this relationship has adapted alongside us. That ability to grow and adjust together has helped ensure we can continue to meet production demands without interruption.

In the video below, we share more about this partnership and how it has supported our operations over the years. It also highlights the importance of having reliable infrastructure in place, helping us maintain consistent production and continue meeting customer demand as needs change.

    Adapting to Changing Demand

Like many manufacturers, Custom Rubber Corp. experienced significant shifts in demand during the COVID era. Supply chain disruptions created delays and uncertainty across the industry, while at the same time, certain product lines saw sudden and unexpected increases in demand that required rapid adjustments in production.

In our case, this included a sharp rise in output needs that placed additional pressure on equipment, staffing and facility capacity. Navigating this kind of volatility required more than internal adjustments; it depended on having partners and infrastructure that could respond quickly alongside us.

    Infrastructure That Keeps Production Moving

As demand continued to increase, it became clear that additional capacity would be necessary to support ongoing operations at Custom Rubber Corp.. Meeting production requirements at scale meant not only expanding equipment and facility usage, but also ensuring the underlying infrastructure could support that level of activity.

A key focus during this period was increasing electrical capacity to accommodate higher production loads and ongoing facility upgrades. This is where our established relationship with Cleveland Public Power became especially valuable. Their team worked to add additional power capacity, including the installation of a second incoming line to the facility. This upgrade helped ensure that expansion could move forward without disrupting day-to-day operations.

Why This Matters for Our Customers

For our customers, the strength of our operations directly impacts the reliability of the parts and service they receive. When the right infrastructure and support systems are in place, it allows Custom Rubber Corp. to maintain consistent production timelines, even as demand fluctuates.

It also ensures we have the ability to scale when needed—whether that means responding to increased order volumes, supporting new programs or adjusting to changing project requirements. Just as importantly, it helps us maintain a high level of consistency and performance across everything we produce.

    Built for What’s Next

Manufacturing has deep roots in Cleveland, and it remains a defining part of the region’s economy today. That legacy continues through a network of companies and infrastructure partners working together to keep production strong and adaptable. Organizations like Cleveland Public Power support local businesses as they grow, invest and plan for the future.

At Custom Rubber Corp., we operate within that ecosystem, drawing on reliable partnerships to maintain the responsiveness and consistency our customers depend on. This allows us to support production needs with stability, flexibility and efficiency as requirements change.
