Pump Housing Rubber Boot Seal with Integrated O-Ring

When a leading engineering and construction consultant's current parts were not performing as expected, they relied on Custom Rubber Corp.'s rubber molding expertise and industry experience to design and manufacture more durable products. An o-ring that wasn't sturdy enough to meet the application's demands was undermining their industrial hose pumps because the o-ring was causing the hoses' seals to leak frequently. Custom Rubber Corp. was able to offer an effective solution to the customer and, by working closely with the customer, designed and manufactured this rubber boot seal with an integrated o-ring (pictured below) that met their performance standards.(Continued below.)

The rubber seal is designed for a submerged industrial hose pump, so it was absolutely necessary that the customer develop an effective method to seal the space between the casing and hose. Custom Rubber Corp.'s experience in molding rubber seals meant that we had the necessary expertise and could provide the solution that the customer needed. This watertight rubber seal integrates an o-ring into the rest of the molded rubber seal. To guarantee a superior seal between the chrome bracket and red pump casing, a bead was added to the flange at Custom Rubber Corp.'s suggestion. Because the dimension of the bolt pattern of the rubber seal is important in confirming that the flange engages and seals at the bead, Custom Rubber Corp. was careful when designing the addition of this bead to ensure it would not be too close to, and interfere with, the bolt pattern.
