At Custom Rubber Corp., we work hard—and we make time to celebrate that work together. In July, we host a summer cookout for all shifts, and this year’s event was another great one. Leadership manned the grill, serving up burgers, hot dogs and all the classic sides. It’s one of two company-wide meals we hold each year (the other happens in December and features a catered meal of ribs and chicken), and it’s a tradition we all look forward to.
Company Updates and Recognition
Along with the cookout, we took some time to share important company updates. We welcomed new team members, recognized employees celebrating work anniversaries and thanked those who brought in great candidates through our referral program.
We also gave everyone an overview of how the business is doing and shared details about new parts and projects we’ve won in the past quarter. It’s always encouraging to show how the hard work happening on the floor connects directly to customer trust and company growth.
Time For Bingo!
And of course, no cookout is complete without a little friendly competition. As usual, Charlie Braun, the President of Customer Rubber Corp., was chief bingo caller while employees played for some great prizes. First and second shifts each had a shot at Guardians tickets and $100 cash prizes (first shift had two $100 winners since they’re the largest team). It’s a small tradition that always brings a lot of smiles.
We also like to send everyone home with something useful. At this event, we typically hand out branded gifts like T-shirts and tumblers. This year, employees received personal fans!
Listening and Improving: Engagement Survey Results
Our HR Manager, Ryan Brumfield, also spoke at the event to share the first results from our Employee Engagement Survey. Using the framework from the book
First Break All the Rules, we’ve begun tracking how connected and supported our team feels—and most importantly, taking real action based on what we hear.
Ryan also passed out the next section of the survey. Fostering a workforce that is truly engaged is a top priority for us. The research is clear—teams that are engaged perform better, and we’re committed to making Custom Rubber Corp. the kind of workplace where people want to grow.
Looking Ahead
Whether we’re launching new parts or flipping burgers, our goal is the same: to build a company where people feel valued, informed and connected to the work we do. Thanks to everyone who helped make this summer’s cookout a success—and to the entire Custom Rubber Corp. team for continuing to shape what we’re building together.
