Flouroelastomer Rubber / Viton®

The extreme rubber material

Working Temperature Range:

High: 390°F / 199°C Low: -5°F / -15°C

Flouroelastomer rubber - Viton® rubber is the ideal choice for any product that experiences extremes in either temperature or fluid exposure.  Flouroelastomers also are resistant to a broad range of chemicals including gasoline, and are resistant to UV and ozone.  Flouroelastomers also have low gas permeability. Viton® is one of many different types of synthetic rubbers. We've published an article explaining the differences between natural and synthetic rubber here.

Advantages:

  • Excellent high temperature resistance
  • Excellent resistance to most chemicals
  • Good compression set
  • Good resistance to UV and ozone
Disadvantages:
  • Poor resistance to hot water and steam
  • Fair low temperature flexibility
