Non-Conductive Protective Boot for Cabling

Custom Rubber Corp. assisted this customer when they were in need of a more dependable source for their rubber components. The customer shipped multiple molds to Custom Rubber Corp., and within weeks, the customer had parts. As a result of the first run, some specifications for the rubber material that were not on the blueprints were identified - in this particular case, it was confirmed that the rubber boot had to be non-conductive. Custom Rubber Corp. quickly identified a non-conductive rubber compound and manufactured parts, but also assisted the customer in developing the proper ASTM rubber material callout to add to their print so that such a mistake would not happen again. After a short while, it also became apparent that the existing tooling was not capable of making consistant product without unacceptable levels of fallout. Custom Rubber Corp. designed a new production tool that optimized the productivity while keeping the tooling investment in line with the annual volume requirements for the rubber boot. The rubber boot is used as a dust protector on overhead power distribution - raceways, busways - designed for use in the harshest environments.
