100 lb. Rubber Coupling with Three Metal Inserts
The rubber coupler pictured here is used in the rail industry. It consists of a very large central metal insert with a hub and six smaller holes. Rubber is used to bond the central insert to two steel rings - one on the top and one on the bottom. The entire part is approximately 34" in diameter, and weighs 100+ lbs when complete. The rubber coupler has very stringent bond requirements. After molding it is subjected to torque tests where the central hub is held in place and the upper and lower rings are torqued and held, and also cycled through tourqe and relax cycles. At the end of the testing there can be no evidence of rubber to metal bond failure.
Custom Rubber Corp. is able to manufacture parts up to 36" x 36", and is experienced in handling complex rubber parts that have multiple metal inserts.
