Temperature Resistant Sealing Strip
For applications on the fire-wall of automobiles, the rubber material used has to be top-grade and able to withstand aggressive temperatures. Custom Rubber Corp. worked with one of the raw material supplier partners in developing a peroxide-cured EPDM material that fit the bill. (Continued below.)
In order to reduce the tolerance requirements on the metal insert to keep the cost down (there is a raised cylinder that is tack welded to the metal plate instead of machining on complete piece), the rubber part is molded separately and then glued in a secondary operation to the metal. A cyanoacrylate adhesive was chosen after extensive testing to determine the best adhesive for this instance given the rubber material and the finish of the metal insert.
The rubber parts pictured are not in stock or for sale. These are examples of custom-manufactured products that illustrate Custom Rubber Corp.'s capabilities. Contact us with information on your needs.
