Molded Rubber Interface Cover

Pictured below is a molded rubber environmental cover with a matte finish. Because it is used as a cover for shipboard electronics, this molded rubber cover had to fulfill several requirements, which made Custom Rubber Corp. the perfect partner for the customer. It was essential that the rubber cover be molded with a lusterless finish to ensure that it did not reflect light, which meant that the customer needed a supplier who had the rubber engineering and rubber design experience necessary to design and mold a rubber part matching these specifications. The customer chose to contact Custom Rubber Corp., confident that, with its prior experiences in rubber molding and manufacturing, Custom Rubber Corp. had the ability to design a cost effective cover and incorporate the necessary tooling features to achieve the desired lusterless finish. Custom Rubber Corp. was able to engineer a rubber part with a matte finish using a durable material capable of withstanding a wide temperature range and exposure to salt, fog, mist, water and direct sunlight.

The molded rubber environmental cover would need to be replaced frequently, so it was essential that the rubber part be durable enough to withstand assembly and disassembly. Fit was also essential in developing the product since the rubber cover needed to stay securely in place to effectively protect the electronic equipment and not deform from time and element exposure.
