Custom Molded Rubber Shock Foot Design with Two Metal Inserts
The unique design of this shock foot assembly, or rubber isolator, is revealed in the picture below. Incorporated into the foot are two metal inserts:
- A steel bushing
or sleeve that is secured by the rubber around the front end.
- A U-shaped metal bracket possessing three
attachment points (the picture shows two at the top).

(ref. #105550, 105645)
This type of design allows the bracket to be mounted securely to
device's frame. At the same time, it guarantees that the delicate subassembly will be firmly fastened
to the steel bushing or sleeve. The subassembly is also isolated and supported by the various rubber parts.
Despite the complexity of the design and the multiple metal inserts, Custom Rubber Corp.
was able to make
the production of the part appear easy to our customer. To ensure that the bond between the rubber and the metal would exceed the tear strength of the rubber, Custom Rubber Corp. had to identify and test several combinations before the final rubber material and bonding agents were selected.
The bonded rubber and metal parts pictured are not in stock nor are they for sale. These
are examples of custom-manufactured products that illustrate Custom Rubber
Corp.'s rubber engineering and manufacturing capabilities. Contact us for assistance in developing a bonded metal and rubber design to fulfill your needs.
