Small Gray Rubber Grommet

In need of a supplier to manufacture a new style of rubber grommet for a small condenser motor, a leading manufacturer of HVAC equipment approached Custom Rubber Corp. about potentially molding the part. Custom Rubber Corp. responded with 48 hours of receiving the inquiry, providing not only a quotation for the part but also initial design assistance and cost-saving advice. (Continued below.)

At Custom Rubber Corp.'s request, the customer provided more information regarding the various components, the mating parts, and the desired functionality of the grommet. After examining all the details, and making a few conference calls to discuss questions with the customer, Customer Rubber Corp. submitted additional design changes for approval. A prototype of the part ensured that the design changes did not diminish the functionality of the product. Ultimately, between the reduced costs of the tooling and the piece price, the design changes proposed by Custom Rubber Corp. provided the customer with a total cost savings of approximately 15%.
