Excess Demand Leads to Custom Rubber Corp.

After trying a number of different outside suppliers, a molder of specialty rubber pipe seals turned to Custom Rubber Corp. for assistance in production. The demand for their product was outstripping their capacity to mold the rubber pipe seals. (Continued below.)

Custom Rubber Corp. was able to receive in two different mold sizes and modify the tools in less than two days to fit our equipment. After the modification, Custom Rubber Corp. was able to start producing rubber pipe seals within four days of receiving the tools.

Since receiving the tools, Custom Rubber Corp. has presented a number of cost-saving tool designs that would increase productivity and reduce scrap, allowing the piece price to stay competitive.

The photo shows a white film on the part which has been designed into the rubber formulation as a self-lubricating film that leaches to the surface. This lubrication significantly reduces installation time in the field.
