Rectangular Rubber Chevron Seal for Perfume Application

When a design and manufacturing group called Custom Rubber Corp., they were in trouble and in need of rapid assistance. A new product was getting closer and closer to launch, and a small, previously insignificant rubber seal was failing, leading to the failure of the entire device. The design group had been working with a Chinese rubber manufacturer for months, attempting to engineer a solution to the problem, with no success. (Continued below.)

Custom Rubber Corp. was able to step in and work to improve the design of the seal and also identify and engineer a rubber material that would not degrade when exposed to various perfumes, exotic oils, and extracts. Working with our strategic material suppliers and taking advantage of a number of their chemists, Custom Rubber was able to rapidly test a number of rubber compounds and identify the optimal compound for the application.

While the rubber material was being identified, Custom Rubber Corp. designed and had a single cavity prototype mold produced. The customer rapidly approved the prototype, and Custom Rubber Corp. added three more cavities to the prototype mold while the production mold construction was started. In this way, Custom Rubber Corp. was able to produce enough rubber seals from the converted prototype mold to support the product launch and keep the entire project on time.
