Metal Vacuum Seal Ring with Bonded Rubber Bead
A critical component for valves used worldwide in semiconductor manufacturing,
physics research, chemical purification, and vacuum equipment manufacturing.
This customer came to Custom Rubber after having difficulty with their old
supplier's delivery and quality. Custom Rubber Corp. worked with them to make
significant improvements in the rubber tooling which dramatically reduced the
scrap rates and also improved the performance of the product. (Continued below.)

The mold is a double-transfer mold with transfer pots on
both the top and the bottom in order to bond the two bead seals on both sides
of the aluminum insert. The rubber compound and adhesive were designed for
maximum compatibility and the result is a bond that exceeds the tear strength
of the rubber.
