Electronic Air Sensor
This product was one of the first that Custom Rubber Corp. manufactured using the injection molding technology in the early 1980's. The rubber part shown here was used in the system to monitor fuel-air mixture in an automobile engine. The rubber part has a sealing feature on the bottom that fit onto the circuit board. There is a thru-hole that runs from this sealing feature, all the way through the 90 degree bend and out the smaller diameter round hole that connects to the black plastic housing. Every one of these rubber connectors was tested with a fixture that insures the through hole was not blocked, and that there were no leaks.
In addition to being one of Custom Rubber Corp.'s first injection molded parts, this product also represents one of the first times Custom Rubber's engineering staff participated in early design discussions with our customer. The benefits to involving Custom Rubber Corp. in early design discussions are numerous. Our engineering and design staff have years and years of assisting customers with optimizing rubber product design for functionality, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness. Before you send a competed rubber part design for quote, think about contacting Custom Rubber Corp. and sharing the mating part information and the overall system objectives - we may be able to help improve the overall system.
