Electronic GPS Molded Rubber Gasket

Custom Rubber Corp. participated on the design team for one of the first hand-held GPS units ever developed. Working in conjunction with the plastic molder and the customer, Custom Rubber Corp. assisted with the design of this complex rubber seal used to join the two halves of the plastic shell together. The rubber seal was designed to keep dust and debris out, add a ring of “grip-able” material to the unit to reduce the chances of the user dropping it, and allow some give between the two plastic halves in case it did get dropped.
A durable EPDM rubber was chosen because of its superior ozone resistance, and excellent sealing characteristics.
