Molded Rubber Thermowell Boot

This molded rubber thermowell boot is designed to fit over a thermowell used to protect temperature sensors. Because the thermowell experiences a significant amount of travel, the molded rubber boot needed to be rigorous enough to withstand the thermowell sliding in and out repeatedly. The customer relied on Custom Rubber Corp.'s rubber molding and engineering expertise to design and manufacture a boot that withstood the demands of their application. (Continued below.)

Custom Rubber Corp. helped with the design and suggested engineering features to improve the vacuum seal and reduce degradation due to the thermowell sliding in and out. In order to improve the seal, Custom Rubber Corp. designed sealing features that were added to the inner and outer surfaces of the molded rubber thermowell boot.

The molded rubber thermowell boot was also engineered to withstand other unique demands of the application's environment. The thermowell that this molded rubber boot fits over is installed in a piping system and subject to temperatures up to 140 degrees Celsius. Custom Rubber Corp. worked with the customer to recommend a rubber compound that was both resistant to the demands of the environment, and processed well, facilitating efficient rubber molding of the part.
