Pump Housing Molded Rubber Boot Seal with Integrated O-Ring

When a leading engineering and construction consultant's parts were not performing up to standard, they contacted Custom Rubber Corp. and came to rely on our rubber molding expertise and industry experience. The customer had discovered that an o-ring in their industrial hose pump seals was unable to meet the application's demands and was undermining the entire seal, resulting in frequent leaks. By working closely with the customer, Custom Rubber Corp. was able to propose an effective solution to the customer's dilemma by designing and manufacturing this rubber boot seal (pictured below) that integrates an o-ring into its design. The customer needed a dependable and effective method to securely seal the space between the casing and hose because the larger product, the industrial hose pump, is typically submerged. In this instance, the experience Custom Rubber Corp. has in molding rubber seals was exactly what the customer needed. To make the rubber seal watertight, an o-ring was integrated into the rest of the molded rubber seal. Then, to ensure an even better seal between the chrome bracket and red pump casing, Custom Rubber Corp. suggested adding a bead to the flange. The addition of this bead is a delicate process, however, and Custom Rubber Corp. was careful when designing the addition of this bead to ensure it would not be too close to the bolt pattern of the rubber seal since the dimension of the bolt pattern is key in guaranteeing that the flange engages and seals at the bead.
