Custom Designed GPS Gasket

When the design team for one of the first hand-held GPS units ever developed needed help with their product, they turned to Custom Rubber Corp. for assistance. Working in conjunction with the customer and the plastic molder, Custom Rubber Corp. aided in the design of this complex rubber seal that is used to connect the two halves of the plastic shell. The rubber seal was designed to keep dust and debris out and add a ring of “grip-able” material to the unit to reduce the chances of the user dropping it, while at the same time allowing some give between the two plastic halves just in case it did get dropped.
Ultimately, the final product utilized a durable EPDM rubber due to its excellent ozone resistance, and superb sealing characteristics.
