Broadband Over Power Lines (BPL) Unique Application
Custom Rubber Corp.'s relationship with a leading BPL provider and innovator
continues with two versions of a node - one for installation with a hot stick,
and one for installation when the power is off. (Continued
below.)

(Ref. 105508)
Custom Rubber Corp. and our customer jointly designed these
products that incorporate three primary components: 1) a heat-resistant coaxial
cable, 2) a ferrite core to create the magnetic field, and 3) a durable, functional
rubber cover that protects the ferrite cores, the connection between the coaxial
cable and the ferrite, and holds the whole unit in place, encapsulating the
high-voltage power line.
The products are designed for use in underground installation and they are
the starting point for the data transmission and collection off the power lines.
The rubber material is specifically designed to have just the right amount
of conductivity to insure the proper transmission of data from the power line
to the electronics on the other end of the cable.
As a result of this project, Custom Rubber Corp. has perfected the ability
to completely encapsulate the terminal end of a wire, inside a fully formed
rubber part. The brown cable in the foreground of the picture shows a thin
black wire that gets wrapped around the ferrite core - Custom Rubber's unique
mold holds this wire in place (around one of the ferrite cores) during the
molding process to create a water-tight seal around the cable entry point and
insure a continuous loop.

rubber parts
pictured are not in stock or for sale. These are examples
of custom-manufactured products that illustrate Custom Rubber Corp.'s capabilities. Contact
