Broadband Over Power Lines

This product was commissioned by a company whose goal is to capitalize on the signal carrying capabilities of existing copper power lines in order to bring broadband communications into buildings. One of their solutions in commercializing technology to achieve this goal was to develop bridges across networks in apartment complexes and multi-unit housing. Wanting to protect their transmitters and transceivers, they approached Custom Rubber Corp. to help them design and manufacture protective covers. (Continued below.)

Custom Rubber Corp. engineered a rubber material that protected the components from dirt, grime, oils, and other overhead or underground contaminants and that was also compliant with UL 94 VO flammability specifications. Working with the customer, Custom Rubber Corp. assisted in developing the rubber shell that encapsulates two special magnetic cores and a closing strap all into one piece. The removal of extra securing straps coupled with increased ease of installation resulted in the creation of a functional, durable, and effective product.
