Designed soley by Custom Rubber Corp., this product was origninally intended to hold an umbrella on the handlebar of a parked mototcycle or on the railing of a boat. There were a number of different iterations and prototypes as shown in the photo - the flat rubber straps were the first version, the one in the foreground is the final version.

The part has a fully-integrated rubber strap that is the perfect length to go around a 1" diameter bar, and the end of the strap has a specially designed rubber ball that fits into the re-inforced hold - once in place, the rubber strap doesn't slide around the bar. The larger hole is for the umbrella pole, and the raised rubber fingers on either side keep the umbrella hole positioned where it's supposed to be.
