Custom Molded Rubber Housing Unit
Having previously relied on Custom Rubber Corp.'s extensive rubber design and rubber engineering capabilities, an existing customer in the electric power utilities industry contacted Custom Rubber Corp. for assistance in designing and molding a new rubber part: a molded rubber housing unit. (Continued below.)

(Ref. 101706)
This molded rubber part houses and protects the cable assembly in the customer's application. After revising the product's original design, Custom Rubber Corp. was able to produce a molded rubber housing unit that fit the customer's assembly and application perfectly. The configuration and design of this molded rubber housing unit are engineered to meet several crucial requirements. The size and location of the outer holes allow the unit to be press fit against studs, securing the rubber part in place, while inner holes house diodes used for the communications application. These features were engineered into the design to guarantee that the molded rubber housing unit achieves a perfect fit when installed, which prevents potting material from leaking out.
In addition to molding this rubber part to the engineered design specifications, Custom Rubber Corp.had to meet finishing and material requirements when molding the final product. The rubber material Custom Rubber Corp. used in forming the unit is engineered to withstand an ambient air temperature of up to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The customer's cosmetic standards were also taken into consideration during the design process, so Custom Rubber Corp. manufactured the part with a parting line that would not interfere with the interior sealing surface.
