Molded Rubber Bellows

A company in the transportation industry contacted Custom Rubber Corp. after their previous rubber supplier of rubber parts did not meet their delivery and quality needs. After discussing the application with the company, Custom Rubber Corp. was able to identify a material that would improve the molded rubber bellows' service life, fit the existing mold to our equipment, and provide sample parts – during the Winter Holidays and just in time for the new year. The molded rubber bellows pictured above are used in the transportation industry in an under the hood application. Due to the chemical and heat exposure these molded rubber bellows experience, the customer relied on Custom Rubber Corp.'s rubber molding expertise to determine a material robust enough for the environment. However, determining the right material proved challenging considering the molded rubber bellows' thin walls. Not only does the rubber material need to be resistant to high temperatures and chemical exposure, the rubber material must also have a substantial amount of hot-tear strength so that the rubber parts do not tear during de-molding. Custom Rubber Corp. was able to identify a rubber material that met all of these requirements in addition to improving the rubber's processability during molding, thereby lowering the scrap rate and containing the customer's costs.
