Custom Molded Silicone Rubber Grip for Rifle Scope

A customer desiring both design and manufacturing assistance approached Custom Rubber Corp. with nearly complete designs for a rifle scope grip. Shown in the picture below are production parts that were used in the process of creating the final grip: two in black silicone rubber and one hard plastic prototype in gray that was used to make a silicone mold for the cast urethane prototypes. The silicone rubber provides the product with a soft-touch feel and secure grip, both of which are required for a high-powered rifle scope used by the military and police force. The silicone rubber grip also allows the user to achieve greater accuracy by adjusting the amount of light entering the scope, facilitating easy visibility in both the brightest sunlight and the blackest night.

The customer's time constraints influenced their decision in choosing Custom Rubber Corp. because they needed a supplier who could produce the parts in less than two weeks for a rapidly approaching trade show. Known for its motto of Responsiveness ~ From Design to Delivery, Custom Rubber Corp. was able to respond to the customer's need. In just 5 days, Custom Rubber Corp. had finalized the design with the customer and delivered initial cast urethane parts—all over the Christmas Holidays.

After delivering to the customer the cast urethane parts for marketing materials and a trade show, Custom Rubber, using the actual material selected for the final product, manufactured and delivered parts out of a single cavity prototype mold. Because the grips needed to withstand hard conditions in addition to facilitating improved accuracy, the customer put the material and the entire device through a barrage of weather exposure and chemical resistance tests. Thanks to Custom Rubber Corp.'s extensive rubber molding and rubber engineering experience, the product passed each test without problems.
