Panel Grommets for Cables - with Slit
Custom Rubber Corp. can assist with design and/or manufacture of rubber panel
grommets in all shapes and sizes. The examples shown here illustrate just some
of the configurations of rubber grommets used in sheet metal panels. D-shaped
or round holes are stamped in the sheet metal, and the ID hole in the rubber
grommet is properly sized to accomodate a wire or water line - the rubber grommet
protects the electrical or water supply from chaffing on the sharp edges of
the stamped hole in the sheet metal. (Continued below.)

(ref. 105138, 105150, 105166, 105258, 105259)
Some of the rubber grommets shown have a thin rubber membrane
that is slit. This membrane improves the barrier between one side of the wall
and the other. The thin rubber membrane conforms to the wire or water line
passing through and seals out the dust and debris even better.
Custom Rubber Corp. can design grommets to fit all types of holes in all types
of materials. In some cases, the rubber panel grommet has been designed with
two pass-through holes for different sized wires. Many of the grommets are
slit all the way to the exterior to allow easy assembly - no need to pass the
wire or water line through the rubber grommet from beginning to end, the rubber
grommet just slips over the wire or water line right at the point of assembly.
There are a number of companies that supply standard rubber grommets for sheet
metal applications. Custom Rubber Corp. is available for those customers that
have something non-standard about their application. When the wall size is
unusual, the hole shape is different, or the wire/water line that passes through
is an odd size, call Custom Rubber Corp. for design assistance and manufacturing.
