A leading manufacturer of control valves for the gas-fired appliance industry realized they needed a more dependable supplier. They had worked with a large rubber molding company whose service left much to be desired and also a small to mid-size rubber molding company whose delivery and communication were not meeting their expectations. Moving the business to Custom Rubber Corp. was not initially a cost savings, but the company has repeatedly said that it was the best supplier change they've ever made and the headache savings have more than off-set the slight price premium.
Bonded with No Excess Flash
This family of parts ranges in size from just over 3" across to just over 1" across. The cast aluminum inserts are supplied by the customer. Custom Rubber Corp. took on the existing tooling to bond a small amount of rubber around the ID of the aluminum, inside the cut-away groove shown in the picture. This is the critical sealing surface. With the existing tools, after some slight modifications to fit Custom Rubber Corp.'s equipment, the customer is recieving parts that are even better than what they were receiving before - and they are getting them on time.
