    Integrated Seal and Cap
When it came time for a leading supplier of Inspection Port Seals and Caps to find a new supplier, Custom Rubber Corp. was the choice.  Consistent quality and the ability to react quickly to rush orders is a must when you serve large chemical processing plants.  After transferring one or two existing molds to Custom Rubber Corp., the customer worked with us to develop two or three new parts to extend the product line.

The integrated part shown is a molded rubber seal that gets inserted into a hole in the outer thin metal shell surrounding large insulated pipes.  In the lower left corner of the photo are the ribbed grommet features that secure the molded rubber seal to the thin metal shell.  Outside the grommet feature is a rubber skirt that flares out and insures a tight seal over the small corrugations in the thin metal shell - this is shown on the black part on the right.

An integrated molded rubber cap can be inserted into the seal forming a tight closure to keep heat in and dirt out.  By connecting the two components with a rubber lanyard, the entire part is simplified.  The molded rubber seal and cap combination is used to cover inspection points where chemical companies inspect their pipes for corrosion and general degredation.

The molded rubber parts pictured are not in stock or for sale. These are examples of custom-manufactured products that illustrate Custom Rubber Corp.'s capabilities.
